Eldor Shomurodov has completed his transfer to Roma, as Genoa will receive €17.5m plus €2.5m in bonuses, but it’s not a loan with obligation to buy. ‘It’s a huge step forward in my career.’

The Uzbekistan international put pen to paper today, with the announcement arriving this evening.

A statement reads that the permanent transfer has been completed for €17.5m plus variable bonuses, as well as a percentage of the future transfer fee.

He signed a contract to June 2026 and will wear the Number 14 jersey.

“Joining Roma represents a huge step forward in my career – I will do everything I can to show I deserve this opportunity and to demonstrate what I can do at one of the biggest clubs in the world,” Shomurodov told the official club website.

“The speed in which this deal was agreed is testament to my desire to be able to join up with the coach and my new teammates and get to work as soon as possible.”

The Corriere dello Sport claim the details of the deal have been clarified, a permanent transfer fee with €1.5m straight away, another €16m then spread out over several years.

The performance-related bonuses are not easy to achieve and are based on the results of both the player and Roma during his time there.

“Eldor is a forward with great potential to develop even further and he is hungry to prove himself at Roma, in a league he already knows well,” said Tiago Pinto, the club’s General Manager.

“Along with that desire, his qualities as a player also fit well with the way our coach wants to play – and for that reason we are delighted to be able to welcome him to the club.”

The 26-year-old impressed in his debut Serie A season at Genoa, scoring eight goals and providing one assist in 31 appearances.

That included five goals in his last six games of the season, including a brace against Atalanta.
