Sassuolo have officially completed their transfers for Gremio duo Matheus Henrique and Ruan, although the defender will remain in Brazil on loan until January.

It’s reported the total cost of the double operation is circa €16m.

Midfielder Matheus Henrique arrives on a one-season loan with obligation to buy in June 2022.

Meanwhile, defender Ruan – full name Ruan Tressoldi Netto – is purchased outright by Sassuolo, but will remain on loan at Gremio until December 31, 2021.

Matheus Henrique is widely believed to be the replacement for Manuel Locatelli, who could finally clinch his transfer to Juventus on Friday for €35m including bonuses, in another loan with obligation to buy deal.

The 23-year-old Brazilian proudly showed off his gold medal, fresh from winning the football tournament at the Tokyo Olympics, and he already has one senior cap for the Selecao.

Both players completed their medicals this week, Matheus Henrique in Italy and 22-year-old centre-back Ruan remaining on Brazilian soil to avoid travel restrictions.
