Sassuolo have officially signed Turkey right-back Mert Muldur from Rapid Vienna for a reported €5m.

Muldur arrives as a replacement for Pol Lirola, who recently joined Fiorentina, as opposed to countryman and centre-back Merih Demiral.

The 20-year-old will not occupy a non-EU spot in Sassuolo’s squad as he was born in Austria and holds an Austrian passport.

He scored two goals and provided six assists in 47 games for Rapid and has represented Turkey twice at senior level.
