Sebastian Giovinco has officially joined Sampdoria on a free transfer, signing a contract until the end of the season.

The former Juventus and Toronto FC striker was available as a free agent and has been drafted in following Manolo Gabbiadini’s anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Giovinco underwent his Sampdoria medical yesterday and the Blucerchiati have announced his signing today.

The club have confirmed that the 35-year-old has signed a contract until June 2022.

Giovinco returns to Serie A seven years after his move to Toronto FC from Juventus.

He has scored 40 goals in 190 Serie A appearances where he played for Juventus, Empoli and Parma.

“It’s all signed, I am very happy to be back in Serie A,” Giovinco told reporters outside the Sampdoria headquarters.

“I salute the Samp fans, I can’t wait to get started with my first training session.”
