Salernitana have officially signed Tonny Vilhena on loan with option to buy from Espanyol in a deal worth €3.8m.

The 27-year-old midfielder arrived in Salerno today and underwent his medical tests before putting pen to paper on the contract.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the one-season loan is going to cost €300,000 and there is an option to buy in June 2023 for €3.5m.

If confirmed, then Vilhena will have a four-year contract worth €1.5m per season net plus performance-related bonuses.

A statement on the Salernitana website confirms he will wear the Number 10 jersey at the Stadio Arechi.

He came through the Feyenoord youth academy before moving on to Krasnodar and then Espanyol in January 2022.

The Netherlands international has 15 senior caps to his name, making his debut for the Oranje in June 2016.

The midfielder made 17 appearances last season for Espanyol, contributing one goal and one assist.
