Alessio Romagnoli has officially signed a five-year contract with Lazio after passing a medical, leaving Milan as a free agent.

The 27-year-old is a lifelong Lazio supporter, even though he started his career in the Roma youth academy, making the โ‚ฌ25m move to Milan in 2015.

He failed to agree a new contract with the Rossoneri and was released as a free agent from July 1.

Also linked with Fulham, Romagnoli had for months been linked with a move to the Biancocelesti and had his medical this morning.

A statement confirmed the centre-back has signed a five-year contract at the Stadio Olimpico.

  1. I honestly don’t understand the formula here why Milan let him go for free, he had excellent seasons with us until some relapse recently and we could have renewed and sold him at the least considering we played alot for him few years ago and now we are looking for a new centre back?.. It’s just unbelievable
