Roma signed 18-year-old striker Ezequiel Ponce from Newell’s Old Boys for €4.2m on transfer deadline day.

“I'm thrilled to join a huge club like Roma and have this opportunity to play alongside world-class players,” he told the official club website.

“I can't wait to make my debut in a Giallorossi jersey.”

The deal had been in the works for some time, but was only completed on the final day of trading in Serie A.

He signed a five-year contract holding him to the Giallorossi until June 30, 2020.
