Roma have officially completed a double deal, selling youth team products Cristian Volpato and Filippo Missori to Sassuolo for a reported total fee of €10m.

The Giallorossi needed to raise funds with sales before the June 30 deadline to balance the books and these were necessary sacrifices.

Volpato is 19 years old and a creative midfielder who was born in Australia, but has chosen to represent Italy at international level.

He moved to the Roma youth academy in January 2020 and scored two goals in 14 appearances for the senior squad between Serie A, the Europa League and Coppa Italia.

Right-back Missori is also 19 and was the captain of Roma’s Primavera youth side and leaves after four games for the Giallorossi, including two Serie A starts.

Roma are said to be retaining a 15 per cent cut of their future sales.

It is rumoured that Roma hope these deals with Sassuolo will help cement the bond between the clubs and help Davide Frattesi return to his hometown team, despite the interest from Inter, Milan and Juventus.
