Roma have sent Sweden international goalkeeper Robin Olsen to Sheffield United on loan with an option to buy.

The shot-stopper drops into the English Championship, their equivalent of Italy’s Serie B, until June 2022.

Now 31, Olsen played for Sweden at UEFA EURO 2020 and has 48 senior caps for his country.

Roma purchased him from FC Copenhagen in 2018 for €9m, but he quickly lost his place at the Stadio Olimpico due to poor form.

He went on loan spells to Cagliari and then Everton without managing to make those transfers stick.

His contract with the Giallorossi runs to June 2023 and he has now completed a loan move with option to buy.

Sheffield United had reached an agreement to sign Yann Karamoh from Serie B club Parma, which would also have been on loan with option to buy.

However, he had failed to get a work permit and the deal collapsed at the last minute.
