Roma have officially announced that Ivan Juric is their new coach, just hours after sensationally announcing they had sacked club legend Daniele De Rossi.

It was a shock this morning when confirmed that De Rossi had been dismissed, especially as he had only recently signed a new contract after replacing Jose Mourinho in January.

The new boss signs a one-year contract to June 2025, although there is reported to be an option for a second season.

Juric a veteran Serie A coach

Juric is an old hand in Serie A and turned 49 last month, but was out of contract after deciding not to extend his three-year spell at Torino.

His only coaching roles were all in Italy, at Mantova, Crotone, Genoa, Verona and Torino.

The Croatian is one of many current tacticians who learned their trade under Gian Piero Gasperini, working as his player at Crotone and Genoa, then assistant manager at Genoa, Inter and Palermo.

He arrived at the Trigoria training ground this afternoon and oversaw his first session with the Roma squad.

It has been a tough start to the campaign with just three draws and a defeat, in which the team scored only two goals.
