The 47-year-old oversaw 263 matches in Italy’s top flight, Lo Bello 328.

Rocchi has been named new refereeing designator for Serie A and Serie B by AIA and replaced Nicola Rizzoli, who had been in charge since 2018.

Andrea Gervasoni, Elenito Di Liberatore and  Lorenzo Manganelli have been named vice-refereeing designators.

“I hope I will transmit the referees the same spirit as our national team,” Rocchi said after his appointment.
