Roma have confirmed the signing of Renato Sanches from PSG on loan with an ‘obligation to buy if certain conditions are met.’

The Portuguese midfielder has followed Leandro Paredes in the capital. The Argentina international has completed a permanent move to the Stadio Olimpico and was announced as a new signing on Wednesday morning, hours before Renato Sanches.

Roma said in an official statement that Sanches had joined the club on loan with an obligation to buy if certain conditions are met.

Multiple sources claim Roma can make the midfielder’s move permanent for €15m at the end of the season.

“I’m so happy to have joined this huge club,” said the 25-year-old.

“The Roma project really won me over and I feel that playing here is the right choice for me. It’s so important for any player to feel the support of the fans. For me on my first day, the impact that I felt helped me understand how much these supporters love the team and that can only drive me forward to give my all to achieve success here.”

Roma director Tiago Pinto also commented on the deal:

“Renato Sanches is a player that we’ve been following for a long time,” he said.

“Despite that, he’s still a young player and he’s developed the habit of achieving success in every competition, both at club and international level. Renato has the technical and physical qualities that should see him slot seamlessly into our midfield, making it even more competitive.”

Renato Sanches will wear the No.20 at the Stadio Olimpico in 2023-24. He’s the third purchase in central midfield after the signings of Paredes and Houssem Aouar who had joined Roma on a permanent transfer from Lyon earlier this summer.
