PSG announce Italy goalkeeper Gigio Donnarumma has tested positive for COVID.

“Donnarumma has tested positive for Covid-19. He has been placed in isolation and is subject to the appropriate health protocol,” the Ligue 1 giants’ statement read.

“The tests carried out on Juan Bernat yesterday and today turned out to be negative. He will resume training tomorrow.”

Bernat had tested positive five days ago along with Sergio Rico, Nathan Bitumazala and Leo Messi.

Donnarumma played in a Coupe de France Round of 32 clash yesterday with PSG claiming an away 4-0 win against Vannes Olympique Club.

The 22-year-old joined PSG on a free transfer from Milan in the summer and has played 11 games across all competitions this season.

His contract at the Parc des Princes expires in June 2026.

The Italy international released an interview with France TV last night denying that he has problems with PSG goalkeeper Keylor Navas.

“Competition is normal and Keylor is a friend of mine,” the Italy international said.

“Here in Paris, there is more pressure than at Milan, I am in a club that wants to win everything.”

Donnarumma had already tested positive for COVID last season at Milan. He had a very quick recovery as he only spent one game on the sidelines.

He had had a positive swab test On October 26, 2020, on the morning of Milan’s home clash against Roma.

He returned to the pitch on November 1, 2020, against Udinese.

  1. I am afraid Gigio, if you are not playing regularly, then you should not be called up to play for Italy. I am afraid, the Swiss goal should have been saved and its not only me that is saying this as Eraldo Pecci said the exactly same thing. He should have tried with his right hand and not his left. We cannot afford errors of this kind in the play offs. I really rate Donnarumma but only if you are match fit.
