Krzysztof Piatek has officially joined Fiorentina on a six-month loan deal from Hertha Berlin.

The 26-year-old Polish forward, who previously spent time in Italy with Genoa and Milan, has joined the Viola on a six-month loan deal with a €15m buy option attached, reinforcing coach Vincenzo Italiano’s attack.

As announced by Fiorentina, Piatek will wear the number 19 shirt and will be presented to the fans later this afternoon. He has scored one goal and provided one assist in nine Bundesliga appearances this season for Hertha Berlin.

Piatek commented on his arrival in Florence, saying in a post on Instagram:

“Very happy to be back in Italy, where I have always felt good! I thank the Viola for the trust, now I want to show my values. I hope to celebrate many times here.”

Piatek exploded onto the scene in the 2018/19 season, scoring 19 goals in 21 appearances for Genoa. He joined Milan in the transfer window for €35m and scored nine goals in the second half of the season for the Rossoneri.

He struggled to replicate his form in the following season and so joined Hertha Berlin for €24m in the January window, with the Milanese club quickly cutting their losses. He will be hoping to return to his best with Fiorentina.
