Juventus have officially confirmed director Fabio Paratici is leaving the club by mutual consent after 11 years, which many see opening the door to a Max Allegri return.

His contract was due to expire on June 30, 2021, and will not be renewed.

The decision had been in the air following a disappointing campaign, and he’ll probably be replaced by the promotion of Luigi Cherubini.

“These have been wonderful years of professional growth and strong emotions,” Paratici told the club website.

“Juventus allowed me the opportunity to do my job in absolute freedom and without conditioning, fully respecting my role.

“For this I wish to thank the club, my staff, the employees, collaborators, players, coaches, shareholders and in particularly President Andrea Agnelli.

“An important chapter of my career closes, awaiting new challenges.”

Paratici had arrived along with Beppe Marotta from Sampdoria in 2010, but essentially pushed his mentor out a couple of years ago, becoming Chief Football Officer in 2018 and managing director Football Area.

Juventus announced Paratici and Agnelli will hold a joint press conference at the Allianz Stadium on June 4.

“Fabio wrote the history of Juventus over these years,” added President Agnelli.

“A growth process characterised by professionalism, sacrifice and a great deal of success. These 19 trophies in 11 years are the best testimony to his work, which unites fully with the long tradition of our club.

“Now is the moment to thank him for creating a strong professional bond, accompanied by daily passion.”

Paratici and vice-president Pavel Nedved were widely believed to be the figures behind Allegri’s ouster in 2019, as the coach has retained a strong rapport with President Agnelli.

With Paratici now out, after Maurizio Sarri and Andrea Pirlo failed to match Allegri’s tenure, there are growing reports the tactician will return to Turin.
