Fabio Paratici has officially resigned from his position as Tottenham Hotspur’s Managing Director of Football after CONI Collegio di Garanzia rejected his appeal on Thursday.

Paratici had received a 30-month ban in January, in the same sporting trial that ruled a 15-point penalty for Juventus. Paratici’s ban had recently been extended worldwide by FIFA, so the ex-Bianconeri director temporarily stepped back, waiting for an appeal hearing at CONI.

On Thursday, the CONI court ruled that Juventus’ must have their 15 points back pending a new FIGC trial, but Paratici’s appeal was rejected.

Therefore, the Italian has now left Spurs permanently.

“Fabio Paratici was unsuccessful with an appeal against his Italian Football Federation (FIGC) ban on certain football related activities,” Tottenham said in a statement.

“FIFA ruled to extend the ban worldwide and, whilst there continues to be a dispute as to the scope and extent of the ban, the current worldwide ban prevents Fabio from fulfilling his duties as our Managing Director of Football.

“Fabio has consequently taken the decision to resign from his position at the Club with immediate effect to focus on his legal position in respect of the FIGC and FIFA rulings.”

Club Chairman Daniel Ley said:

“This has been a stressful time for Fabio and his family. We wanted to ensure that we allowed for due process to be followed. Fabio is a man who lives and breathes football – we wish him well.

“As outlined in our year end results, we started several months ago to restructure our football operations and last week announced the appointment of Scott Munn as Chief Football Officer to head up all the departments. We shall continue to strengthen our football functions over the coming months.”

Juventus CFO Francesco Calvo spoke about the CONI ruling on Thursday night saying that although the Bianconeri were satisfied with the outcome of the appeal hearing, they regretted Paratici and ex-President Andrea Agnelli saw their requests rejected.

Paratici spent 11 years at Juventus and was the man in charge of the Bianconeri’s transfers during the spell investigated by the Turin Prosecutor and FIGC. He signed for Tottenham in the summer of 2021.
