Milan director Massimiliano Mirabelli confirmed they have terminated the contract with Gabriel Paletta by mutual consent.

The defender was linked with several clubs in Turkey, including Fenerbahce, Galatasaray and Antalyaspor.

“The decision to rescind the contract with Paletta was agreed by mutual consent,” wrote director of sport Mirabelli on Twitter.

“I wish to salute a great man even more than a great player. An example of fairness, professionalism and sporting behaviour.

Fenerbahce are the favourites to sign the centre-back, who turns 32 next month, and his contract with Milan had been due to expire in June anyway.
