Victor Osimhen has completed the loan transfer to Galatasaray and confirmed an option to extend his contract with Napoli until June 2027.

The striker had been frozen out by the Partenopei after failing to complete a move on deadline day to either Al-Ittihad or Chelsea.

He was not part of Antonio Conte’s plans and the club reiterated the Nigerian was the one who refused to play for them ever again.

With the other markets closed, Turkey was the only real remaining alternative to sitting in the stands and he was allowed to join Galatasaray on a one-season loan for free, as long as they covered most of his €10m salary.

However, the formal statement notes Osimhen will be paid a net salary of €6m.

Napoli are set to pay his wages for July and August 2024.

He will wear the Number 45 jersey.

Osimhen still under Napoli control

Napoli retain an option to extend his contract to June 2027 if they do not complete a sale by next summer, which gives them a stronger bargaining position.

However, the release clause is expected to drop next year from €130m to €75-80m.

Although it had been reported over the last few days that there would be a break clause in January for 10 specific clubs, that does not appear to be in the final paperwork.

Osimhen flew in at past 3am on Monday night to Istanbul, where he was greeted by thousands of Galatasaray supporters.

Napoli purchased him from Lille in September 2020 for €77.5m plus add-ons and he scored 76 goals with 18 assists in 133 competitive games.

The centre-forward turns 26 in December and has 21 goals in 35 caps for Nigeria.
