Roma defender Rick Karsdorp has avoided punishment following his outburst at referee Massimiliano Irrati after the final whistle of the loss to Napoli.

The 27-year-old Dutchman confronted the official on the timeline for showing a red card to a member of Jose Mourinho’s staff. The pair came into contact and Irrati seemingly stepped on Karsdorp’s foot, infuriating him. The Giallorossi defender reacted by pushing the referee and verbally expressing his frustration.

Lega Serie A’s sporting judge announced the punishments for this weekend’s round of matches and the Karsdorp incident was not included or even referenced, suggesting that Irrati did not write about the incident in his post-match report.

The Dutch full back has avoided punishment and will be able to take part in Roma’s upcoming match against Hellas Verona on October 31.

Karsdorp is a regular feature in Mourinho’s Roma squad and recently returned from a mensical laceration, an injury that forced him to miss five games across Serie A and the Europa League.
