Official: No Chiesa in Juventus squad for UCL clash vs Benfica

Massimiliano Allegri has announced his 20-man squad for Juventus’ key Champions League clash against Benfica tomorrow, leaving out star winger Federico Chiesa.

The Bianconeri sit five points behind their Portuguese opponents and must win tomorrow if they want to hold onto any hope of reaching the knock-out stages of the competition. Juventus suffered a frustrating 2-1 loss to Benfica in Turin last month and they’ll be hungry to take revenge tomorrow in Portugal.

As announced by Juventus, Allegri’s 20-man squad for tomorrow’s clash against Benfica does not include Chiesa, who returned to squad training last week. The Italian winger suffered a cruciate ligament rupture back in January and has slowly been recovering ever since, finally taking a step forward in the last few weeks.

Although Chiesa did train with the Juventus squad today, Allegri has decided not to risk the 24-year-old in tomorrow’s game. Other notable absences include Leandro Paredes, Paul Pogba and Gleison Bremer.
