Roma have officially announced the arrival of Ivorian defender Evan Ndicka, who has signed a five-year contract with the club.

The 23-year-old impressed during his recent five-year spell with Eintracht Frankfurt, making 183 appearances across all competitions for the German side. He decided to leave the club on a free transfer this month, attracting the attention of teams across Europe.

Roma quickly set their sights on Ndicka and beat out Milan to secure his signature. The 23-year-old has now signed a five-year deal with the club, expiring in June 2028, adding a talented defender to Jose Mourinho’s squad.

The Ivorian centre back has chosen the number five shirt in Rome and will soon join the squad to start preparations for the coming season.

Speaking in the announcement, Ndicka shared his happiness and goals with Roma.

“The project that was illustrated to me, together with the history and prestige of this club, encouraged me to come to Rome, a fantastic city that loves and lives for football.

“I can’t wait to take to the pitch at the Stadio Olimpico in front of my new fans and to be able to give my contribution to the achievement of our goals.”

Roma general manager Tiago Pinto underlined the club’s excitement at the 23-year-old Ivorian defender’s arrival.

“Despite his young age, Evan has already gained important experience in one of the most prestigious leagues and with a European title achieved as a protagonist. He was a particularly sought-after player at international level and we are very happy that he has chosen to wear the Roma shirt.”
