Napoli have announced that Mexican winger Hirving Lozano has tested negative for COVID.

The 26-year-old Partenopei forward tested positive for the virus on December 28 and has been in self-isolation since, remaining in his native Mexico. Now, he will be able to return to Italy in order to prepare for the next league game against Bologna.

As announced by Napoli on Twitter, Lozano tested negative for COVID and so he’ll return to Italy at some point later today. It’s unlikely that he’ll feature in the Coppa Italia match against Fiorentina on Thursday evening, considering his lack of squad training.

His return will be key for coach Luciano Spalletti, who has been navigating an injury crisis in recent weeks, with a number of important players sidelined.

The Mexican winger, who is contracted to Napoli until 2024, has made 25 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 1354 minutes. In that time, he has scored three goals and provided three assists.
