Napoli have officially confirmed the signing of Scotland international Billy Gillmour on a permanent transfer from Premier League outfit Brighton and Hove Albion.

Official: Napoli sign Gilmour from Brighton

Recent reports confirm that the Partenopei have agreed to pay an upfront fee of €14m (£12m) plus add-ons of up to to €4.75m (£4m) to secure the 23-year-old’s services. He has put pen to paper on a five-year contract, which will run until the summer of 2029.

He joins fellow Scotland international Scott McTominay at the Stadio Maradona, who joined from Manchester United on deadline day.

With the transfer deadline fast approaching, Gilmour completed his medical tests and signed the necessary documents in the UK, and is expected to travel to Naples in due course.

As is customary with Napoli transfers, club President Aurelio De Laurentiis was the first to announce the official news.

Gilmour becomes Antonio Conte’s seventh signing of the summer, following the arrivals of McTominay, Romelu Lukaku, David Neres, Alessandro Buongiorno, Rafa Marin and Leonardo Spinazzola.
