Sampdoria have officially sold German World Cup winner Shkodran Mustafi to Valencia.

The deal had been in the air and was formalised this evening by a statement on the Spanish club website.

Mustafi signed a five-year contract tying him to Valencia until June 30 2019.

Although no transfer fee was confirmed, it’s believed the defender cost €10m.

It has been a remarkable few months for the 22-year-old, who was a surprise inclusion in the Germany squad that ended up winning the World Cup.

Mustafi will complete his medical tests on Thursday before being presented to the media tomorrow morning.
