Serie A newcomers Monza have officially signed Gianluca Caprari from Hellas Verona and Juventus youth product Filippo Ranocchia.

Both players had their medicals this afternoon and then put pen to paper on the contracts.

Caprari has made the move on loan with obligation to buy if certain conditions are met, reportedly if Monza manage to stay in Serie A past the end of this debut season.

It is believed that Monza are paying €3m for the one-season loan, with obligation to buy for a further €7m and another €2m in various add-ons.

He signed a contract that will run to June 2026.

Caprari turns 29 next week and recently received his first senior Italy cap.

A product of the Roma youth academy, the support striker also played for Pescara, Inter, Sampdoria, Parma and Benevento before joining Verona in 2021.

Last season he scored 12 Serie A goals in 35 games, also providing seven assists for his teammates.

As for Ranocchia, the 21-year-old midfielder just completed a loan at Vicenza from the Juventus Under-23 squad and this is another dry loan to June 2023.

He is no relation to Andrea Ranocchia, the former Inter defender who also signed for Monza this summer.

  1. Hope Monza do well – an actual Serie A team that is trying to build a solid squad with primarily Italians. Refreshing and rare. They’ll field a strong first 11 that can compete for 8-12th in the table.
