Monza confirm Stefano Sensi will undergo ankle surgery following an injury suffered on Sunday against Hellas Verona.

The Italy international was subbed off in tears yesterday and the tests in hospital showed a fracture to the malleolus and base of the fibula. Therefore, he will be forced to undergo surgery in the coming days, the Brianzoli said in an official statement.

Monza specified that the Inter loanee would go under the knife to ‘reduce a fracture in the malleolus and base of the fibula.’

Sensi, 27, has two goals in 13 Serie A games this season. Monza don’t have an option to buy in the summer, so he will be back at Inter in 2023 unless the two clubs reach an agreement for his permanent stay at the U-Power Stadium in the coming months.

Sensi made his Italy debut under Roberto Mancini in 2018 and made his last appearance in March 2022 against Turkey.
