Aleksei Miranchuk said goodbye to the Lokomotiv Moscow fans after the club announced they have agreed terms for a transfer to Atalanta.

“Lokomotiv and Atalanta have reached an agreement in principle on the transfer of Aleksei Miranchuk to the Italian club, pending a medical,” read a statement.

A deal has been done with Atalanta for €14.5m, plus a percentage of his sell-on fee.

He is currently out with a thigh injury, so did not play in the game against Zenit St Petersburg this afternoon.

However, he did walk under the stands where the home supporters were gathered after the final whistle and said his goodbyes.

“I want to thank all the Lokomotiv fans,” Miranchuk told the club website.

“I became a professional football player and a man with you here. We won everything together. I want to thank everyone for being there for me during good times and bad.

“It’s now time for me to follow my dream, but this is not goodbye, it is a see you soon!”

The creative midfielder turns 25 in October and has five goals in 25 senior appearances for Russia.

His contract with Lokomotiv Moscow was only due to run until June 2021, but he spent his entire career at the club, coming up through their youth academy.

Milan had also shown an interest, but Miranchuk ultimately chose Atalanta, who are in the Champions League for the second year running.
