And official confirmation has now arrived that promising 24-year-old has joined the Diavolo, having not made a senior competitive appearance for Juve.
"AC Milan announces the signing of the players Gonzalo Higuain and Mattia Caldara from Juventus," a statement on the Rossoneri's website confirms.
"Gonzalo and Mattia are two important pieces of the new era for the club.
"Gonzalo Higuain arrives at AC Milan on an expensive loan deal until June 30, 2019 with the right of redemption.
"Mattia Caldara finally arrives as part of an exchange on par with Leonardo Bonucci, who returns to Juventus. The 24-year-old defender has signed a contract that binds him to AC Milan until 30 June 2023."
A Press conference will be held tomorrow to present the new signings.
