Milan have officially signed Giacomo Bonaventura from Atalanta for €7m on a five-year contract.

The transfer was confirmed by Milan this evening after Atalanta director Pierpaolo Marino tweeted this photograph of the midfielder putting pen to paper with CEO Adriano Galliani.

The contract runs to June 30 2019 and the transfer fee, including add-ons, is believed to be €7m.

They moved very quickly towards the Orobici winger after the Jonathan Biabiany move sensationally collapsed when Cristian Zaccardo refused to join Parma in exchange.

The Rossoneri had also been due to give Parma €4m plus €1m in performance-related bonuses for Biabiany.

When that situation precipitated, Milan dived into negotiations with Atalanta for Bonaventura and worked quickly to complete the operation.

Milan already raised €6m of that sum by selling young midfielder Bryan Cristante to Benfica for €6m including add-ons this evening.
