Milan have officially confirmed that Nikola Kalinic has been sold to Atletico Madrid on a permanent transfer.

The Croatian striker joined the Rossoneri from Fiorentina last summer, but after a difficult first season he became surplus to requirements.

“AC Milan announces the outright sale of the player Nikola Kalinic to Atletico Madrid,” a statement on the Rossoneri’s website confirms.

“AC Milan announces the outright sale of the player Nikola Kalinic to Atletico Madrid,” a statement on the Rossoneri’s website confirms.

“The club wishes to thank the player for the professionalism he always showed in wearing the Milan shirt, while wishing him the best sporting satisfaction for the rest of his career.”

No transfer fee has been announced, but it was previously reported that Kalinic would move for around €15m.

Atleti confirmed that he has signed a three-year contract.
