Milan, Inter, Bologna and Salernitana have all received fines after the 24th round of Serie A matches over the weekend, as has Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri, but Nerazzurri pair Simone Inzaghi and Francesco Acerbi have avoided punishment, despite reports that they would be investigated after their 4-2 win away to Roma.

Milan were the most heavily punished by the Serie A sporting judge, receiving an €8,000 fine for insulting chants towards the referee and opposing supporters. Inter received a €4,000 fine for similar reasons.

Bologna were fined €2,000 after two plastic bottles were thrown onto the playing field around the 38th minute against Lecce, while Salernitana have been hit with a €1,500 sanction for unnecessarily delaying the restart of the second half.

Nine players have received suspensions for varying reasons after the 24th round of Serie A fixtures.

They are Simone Aresti of Cagliari, Domagoj Brradaric of Salernitana, Fiorentina’s Lucas Martinez Quatra, Napoli’s Juan Jesus, Lazio’s Matias Vecino, defender Alessio Romagnoli and his namesake Simone at Frosinone, plus Juve’s Gleison Bremer and Torino’s Adrien Tameze.

Allegri has received the heaviest fine of any club or individual this week. It was a €10,000 punishment for disrespectful comments he made towards the match officials in the changing rooms at full-time against Udinese.

Allegri avoided a suspension, but was awarded with an official warning from the sporting judge. His assistant Simone Folletti has been handed a one-match suspension.

Reports on Monday claimed that Inter would be investigated after an alleged phone call from suspended coach Inzaghi in the stands to the team in the dressing room at half-time. He was not mentioned on Tuesday’s official round-up.

Similarly, Acerbi was going to be looked at after he showed a middle finger to the Roma supporters during his goal celebrations. It is believed that his gesture was a retaliation to offensive chants regarding his cancer diagnosis just over 10 years ago.

Monday’s report suggested that the authorities would take a more lenient approach given the circumstances, but like his coach, he has also avoided punishment after the 24the round of Serie A fixtures.

  1. Of course the Inter coach and player did not receive any punishment. It’s Inter after all – the protected species continually being helped on their way to their second star.
