Napoli have officially confirmed the signing of 28-year-old full-back Pasquale Mazzocchi on a permanent transfer from Serie A colleagues Salernitana

The defender has signed a three-and-a-half year contract running until the summer of 2027, for a fee estimated to be just shy of €3m.

It is a homecoming for Mazzocchi, who was born in Naples and grew up an ardent supporter of the Partenopei, but has not yet had the opportunity to represent his boyhood club.

Mazzocchi, who has featured in all 18 of Salernitana’s Serie A matches so far in 2023-24, is expected to provide cover and competition for current right-back and captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo.

As is customary with Napoli transfers, President Aurelio De Laurentiis was the first to officially announce the news, sending out a two-word message on X, formerly Twitter: “Welcome Pasquale.”

Upon his signing, Mazzocchi also issued a brief statement: “It’s the realisation of a dream. Forza Napoli always.”

Napoli are expected to keep busy in the January transfer window, as the club also continue in negotiations for Udinese midfielder Lazar Samardzic and Genoa centre-back Radu Dragusin.
