Torino have officially sent striker and Venezuela international Josef Martinez to MLS club Atlanta United on loan with obligation to buy.
The deal had been in the works for several weeks and was finally completed today.
While the Major League Soccer side claimed there was an "option to buy," the statement from Torino confirms it is an "obligation."
According to Sky Sport Italia, the option to buy is worth €4.7m ($5m).

“We’re excited to have acquired another player who’s entering the prime of his career and who has already experienced top competition in Europe and South America,” Atlanta United president Darren Eales said on the official club website.
“Between Serie A, Europa League and various international competitions with the Venezuelan National Team, Josef has already proven himself on some of the biggest stages in our sport and we’re confident in his ability to make a difference in MLS.”
The 23-year-old has nine goals in 37 senior caps for Venezuela, but only found the net 13 times in 76 competitive games for Torino.
“I'm very happy to be here, this is a great project,” said Martinez.
“I was able to see the training ground and the stadium that the club is building, and I knew that coming to Atlanta was the best decision. Also, there is a great coaching staff and remarkable young players. I can’t wait to start to work with my new teammates.”
