Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan has returned to his club after sustaining an injury with France last night.

The France international was forced off the pitch during the break of Les Blues’ 2-0 win over Austria at the Stade de France due to a calf injury.

His national team has now confirmed that the 27-year-old has been sent back to his club where doctors will assess his condition. He’s been replaced by Steve Mandanda.

Maignan isn’t the first Milan player dealing with injuries during the international break as his compatriot Theo Hernandez also returned to Italy without even training with his national team on Monday, while Sandro Tonali didn’t train with Italy and won’t be available for tonight’s game with England.

The Italy international will likely be sent back to Milan for medical assessments with club doctors.

Milan resume the season away at Empoli next week before hosting Chelsea in the Champions League and Juventus in Serie A at San Siro.
