Australian club Brisbane Roar have announced the signing of former Empoli striker Massimo Maccarone on a one-year contract.
A statement on Brisbane’s official website adds Maccarone joins as “a marquee player” for next season.
The 38-year-old also becomes the second Italian player to deflect to the A-League from Serie A after Alessandro Del Piero, who spent two years with Sydney FC between 2012 and 2014.

Maccarone recently left Empoli on a free transfer after their relegation to Serie B and scored 101 goals in 284 appearances for the Tuscans over two spells.
