Brescia have officially announced the termination of Diego Lopez’ contract and will reportedly appoint Luigi Delneri as their new head coach.

The Rondinelle have released a statement confirming that President Massimo Cellino has waited to formalise a deal with the new coach until he had resolved the situation with Lopez, who was appointed in February.

“Brescia Calcio announce that they have, by mutual consent, terminated the contract with Diego Lopez, who has maintained a relationship of extreme openness and collaboration with the club,” the statement read.

“The club thanks Lopez for the professionalism and commitment shown in recent months.”

The former Cagliari and Palermo coach couldn’t help Brescia to survival in Serie A and will, according to Sky Sport Italia, be replaced by 69-year-old Delneri, who has been without a club since he left Udinese in November 2017.
