Roma have officially announced the return of Diego Llorente, who is again joining the club on loan from Leeds United.

The 29-year-old Spaniard spent the second half of last season on loan with the Giallorossi, where he saw 702 minutes of action across 12 total appearances for the club.

Roma were keen to retain him for the coming campaign, so opened talks with Leeds United last month to start negotiating a new deal.

As announced today, Llorente has now returned to Roma from Leeds on a year-long loan deal. No permanence clause has been attached, so he’ll return to England next summer.

Reports suggest that the Giallorossi were hoping to include a buy option or obligation to buy clause in the deal, but the two clubs couldn’t agree to a suitable fee.

The move was further facilitated by a clause in Llorente’s Leeds contract, which allows him to leave on loan should the English side be relegated, which happened last season.
