Zdenek Zeman, a legendary figure in the world of Italian football, has officially returned to the dugout to become Pescara’s new head coach.

The Czech-born coach made a name for himself in the late 1980s and early 1990s with Foggia, taking them from the third division to Serie A within two years with an exciting brand of attacking football, using a 4-3-3 formation.

After leaving Foggia in 1994, Zeman had positive spells with Lazio and Roma before publicly discussing the issue of doping in Italian football, a move that essentially killed his career with top clubs in Serie A.

As announced by Pescara today, Zeman has become their head coach for the third time in his career, charged with guiding them back up to Serie B.

Pescara currently sit 3rd in the Serie C – Group C table, 28 points behind divison leaders Catanzaro.

Zeman is not a coach who believes in results above performances, once stating that a “0-0 is boring, it’s better to lose 5-4, at least it’s exciting.”
