Lecce have officially appointed Coach Eusebio Di Francesco, filling the final empty bench in Serie A.

The decision had been made several days ago, but this evening the club released a statement confirming the news.

“US Lecce announce that Eusebio Di Francesco is the new Coach of the first team.

“He has signed a two-year contract and will be presented to the media on Monday June 27 at the Stadio Via del Mare.”

Di Francesco is best known as a former Roma player, winning the Scudetto in 2001.

Di Francesco is best known as a former Roma player, winning the Scudetto in 2001.

His management career began at Virtus Lanciano, where he was fired in January 2009.

He joined hometown club Pescara as technical director of the youth academy, but was promoted to Coach in January 2010 to replace Antonello Cuccureddu.

As he took them to promotion into Serie B via the play-offs, Di Francesco was kept on in the role.
