Arek Milik and Rafael Leao have been banned for one match, while Juventus were fined €5,000 as one of their staff members ‘disrespected’ the referee following a 2-2 draw with Salernitana.

Juventus are facing consequences after their controversial home draw against Davide Nicola’s side at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday.

Arek Milik, Juan Cuadrado and Max Allegri saw red and have now been banned for one match. The same goes for Milan star Rafael Leao who received two yellow cards against Sampdoria on Saturday.

Juventus were fined €5,000 as one of their staff members, which had not been included in their matchday list ‘disrespected’ the referee inside the dressing room.

More clubs received financial sanctions, among them Cremonese (€5,000), Atalanta (€3,000), Napoli and Roma (€2,000 each) who saw their fans throw objects on the pitch during their weekend fixtures.

Salernitana defender Federico Fazio, who was also sent off in the final minutes at the Allianz Stadium got a one-match ban and was fined €5,000, the same as Juan Cuadrado.

Jean Daniel Akpa-Akpro (Empoli), Rafael Leao (Milan). Igor (Fiorentina), Milik (Juventus), Ruan Tressoldi (Sassuolo) and Lameck Banda (Lecce) have received a one-match ban, so they’ll miss the last match before the break.

Sampdoria boss Marco Giampaolo will miss the next two matches after insulting the referee in the last match with Milan.

Max Allegri and Marco Baroni (Lecce) will also face suspension in their upcoming Serie A fixtures and the Old Lady’s boss was also fined €15,000.

  1. If you get a yellow for taking your shirt off to celebrate a goal that is then disallowed, the yellow should be rescinded. Milik wouldn’t have taken the shirt off if he wasn’t celebrating.

As for Leao – basically saying that overhead kicks are now banned. He goes only for the ball, and has no control over where the defender puts his head. It isn’t the referee’s fault but the rules. It wasn’t intentional and the act of blocking a shot is normal in what is a contact sport.

  2. Al, you really shouldn’t.

If Zaniolo moves the ball before Leao with his foot, so Leao misses the shot kicking Zaniolo’s leg –you’d all give Leao a yellow card.

Now imagine Zaniolo getting to the ball first with his HEAD.
And Leao kicks him IN THE HEAD!!!

WHY ON EARTH WOULD THAT NOT BE A YELLOW CARD???

  3. It also happened in the area where 95% of the time people play ball with their heads, for God’s sake!

    Actually,
This should be a telling test. Anyone who believes Leao shouldn’t be carded, is a complete idiot.
