Lazio officially confirmed the acquisition of Arsenal full-back Nuno Tavares on Monday in a deal that could potentially still benefit the North London side in the long-run.

Lazio confirmed Tavares’s arrival in Rome on Sunday and he has since completed his medical and signed off on the last few details of his contract.

Nuno Tavares cost, contract length and sell-on clause

The Portuguese has joined the Biancocelesti on an initial loan deal with an option to buy, which will become an obligation if certain sporting conditions are activated.

The eventual cost of a permanent transfer will set Lazio back by €6m, plus a reported 20% cut of any future sale, according to Calciomercato.com.

If Tavares’s loan move does become permanent, there is already an agreement in place over a five-year deal, which will run until the summer of 2029.

The 24-year-old has spent the past two seasons out on loan away from The Emirates.

He initially scored six goals from 31 league appearances in Ligue 1 with Marseille under Igor Tudor, before enduring a tougher time back in the Premier League with Nottingham Forest, where a mid-season managerial change limited him to just 12 appearances in all competitions.

  1. Interesting and not bad, but they yet to deliver. 2 hatricks for both strikers and a double for Dele Bashiru though is the best possible start they could’ve wished for.

Mason Greenwood to complete the trident and Lotito can give himself some break from the wrath of the fans.

  2. Andre , why would you want somebody like Greenwood at Lazio ? Disgusting. As for Tavares , a flop at Arsenal and a complete loose cannon , he will make Alberto seem level headed !
