Former Sampdoria defender Marco Lanna has been named new President of the Blucerchiati.
Lanna replaces Massimo Ferrero, who was arrested for alleged financial crimes at the beginning of the month.
Sampdoria’s shareholders’ meeting took place yesterday and Lanna was named the new No.1 of the club.
“On Monday evening the U.C. Sampdoria S.p.A. shareholders’ meeting reconvened to continue discussing the items on the agenda, which began on 24 December,” Sampdoria’s statement read.
“At the end of the meeting, having considered the recommendations made and thanking all parties for their contribution to this transition for the club, majority shareholder Sport Spettacolo Holding S.r.l. appointed a new board of directors comprising Marco Lanna (president), Alberto Bosco, Gianni Panconi and Antonio Romei.”
Lanna, 53, is a Sampdoria legend and was part of the team that won the Scudetto in 1990-91. He played 193 competitive games with the Blucerchiati.
He also played for Roma, Salamanca and Real Zaragoza.
