Roma have officially purchased Artem Dovbyk from Girona FC in a deal believed to be worth €30.5m plus add-ons, a huge coup after he was top scorer in LaLiga.
The final figures are reported to be €30.5m plus €5.5m in performance-related bonuses and a 10 per cent cut of the future sell-on fee, but not going beyond a maximum of €38.5m.
The club statement proudly points out this is the first time ever that Roma have signed the top scorer from a previous season in another league.
Dovbyk top scorer in debut LaLiga season
The Ukraine international turned 27 in June and was snapped up from SK Dnipro in the summer of 2023 for €7.75m.
He made a massive impact in Spanish football and secured the Pichichi title – their version of Capocannoniere – thanks to 24 goals and eight assists in 36 LaLiga appearances in his debut season.
Dovbyk also participated in EURO 2024 with Ukraine and has 10 goals in 31 senior caps for his country.
The tall centre-forward had caused controversy when his agent showed off a No 9 jersey on social media, as that number is taken by Tammy Abraham.
Instead, he has now officially been assigned the No 11 shirt.
