Leeds defender Rasmus Kristensen has officially joined Roma on loan until the end of the season.

The Giallorossi have confirmed his signature on social media and with a statement on their official website.

“AS Roma is delighted to announce the signing of Rasmus Kristensen on a loan deal from Leeds United until 30 June 2024,” the club said.

“I’m proud to be part of this great club – you can feel the history as soon as you walk in here,” said the Denmark international who has picked squad number 43.

“Roma’s European success in recent years made me want to play for this club even more. I can’t wait to have my everyday life here.”

“Rasmus is a player we’ve been tracking for a long time, even before he joined Leeds, and now we finally have the chance to bring him to Rome,” added Roma director Tiago Pinto.

“He has accumulated a great deal of experience despite his young age. We’re convinced that he will boost our defensive options and make our squad even stronger.”

Roma were able to sign the 26-year-old on loan thanks to a clause in his contract with Leeds United which allowed him to leave on a temporary deal following the club’s relegation from the Premier League in 2022-23.

Kristensen is Roma’s third new signing this summer following Evan N’Dicka and Houssem Aouar who have moved to the Stadio Olimpico on free transfers.

Kristensen is the second Leeds player to join José Mourinho’s Roma following Diego Llorente. However, the Spaniard isn’t really a new signing having returned to the Stadio Olimpico on loan after a six-month spell in 2022-23.

Roma do not have an option to buy to sign any of the two players at the end of the season.
