Wojciech Szczesny is now officially a free agent after seven seasons with Juventus, after he and the club reached a mutual agreement to terminate the Poland international’s contract on Wednesday afternoon.

The former Arsenal and Roma shot stopper is now free to negotiate with any other club ahead of a potential free transfer.

“Thanks for everything Tek and good luck for the future,” the Old Lady wrote in a statement on the club website.

Szczesny leaves Juventus after seven seasons

Szczesny made 252 appearances across all competitions during his time with Juventus and recently became one of only seven foreign players to rack up 200 Serie A appearances for the Bianconeri.

His contract had been due to expire in less than 12 months’ time, in the summer of 2025.

Szczesny’s position as a starter for the Bianconeri was put in massive doubt when the club signed Michele Di Gregorio from Monza earlier this transfer window. The Italian has since started in all over Juve’s pre-season friendlies under new coach Thiago Motta.

Motta has made it clear that there are several former Juventus first team regulars who are now no longer part of the club’s plans moving forwards. Others on that list include Federico Chiesa, Weston McKennie and Arkadiusz Milik.
