Teun Koopmeiners signs permanent contract with Juventus (from Atalanta)

Juventus have officially announced the acquisition of Teun Koopmeiners from Atalanta, who becomes the most expensive signing in Serie A this summer.

Official: Juventus sign Koopmeiners from Atalanta

Juventus have agreed to pay La Dea a total package in excess of €60m to secure the highly-sought after Dutchman’s signature. Juventus will pay a guaranteed fee of €51.3m over four instalments, plus extra costs of around €3.4m, as well as bonuses up to €6m for a combined total of €60.7m.

Koopmeiners has put pen to paper on a five-year contract, which will run until the summer of 2029.

He becomes Juve’s eighth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Francisco Conceicao on loan from Porto, Nico Gonzalez from Fiorentina, Pierre Kalulu from Milan, Khephren Thuram from Nice, Juan Cabal from Verona, Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa and Michele Di Gregorio from Monza.

“Now Koopmeiners is ready for this exciting new adventure in black and white. Welcome to Juventus, Teun,” the club wrote in an official statement.

Koopmeiners has established himself as one of the most exciting players in the division over the past few seasons. He had scored 26 goals from 97 Serie A appearances from his attacking midfield role during his three seasons with Atalanta.

He also netted on 43 occasions from 154 appearances in all competitions during his time with AZ Alkmaar.

Koopmeiners also played a major role in Atalanta’s victorious Europa League campaign last season, featuring in every game apart from the final group-stage match, when La Dea had already qualified for the knock-outs.

His transfer to Juventus also makes Koopmeiners the most expensive player in Serie A this summer, in terms of both incoming and departing players.

Previously, the most expensive arrival had been Juve’s purchase of Douglas Luiz for an official fee of €50m. Riccardo Calafiori had been the most expensive Serie A sale this summer, leaving Bologna to join Arsenal for just shy of €50m (£42m).
