Juventus have officially sent Denis Zakaria to Chelsea, on loan with option to buy for €30m, just eight months after he was signed for €8.6m.
It therefore represents a huge profit for the Bianconeri, considering his value has more than tripled half a season.
“I want to say hi to all the Chelsea fans. I’m very happy and proud to be a Blue and I cannot wait to see you soon at Stamford Bridge,” he told the club website.
Zakaria only joined Juve in January from Borussia Monchengladbach at a cost of €8.6m, a very low price at the time because his contract was running down.
The Switzerland international made just 15 competitive appearances for Juventus, scoring one goal on his debut and contributing one assist.
It was a very last-minute move that was started and completed on transfer deadline day, so Zakaria had the most important medical tests at the J-Medical centre in Turin.
He will have the rest of the tests in London on Friday with the Chelsea staff.
Chelsea have also agreed to cover the entirety of Zakaria’s €3m per season salary during the loan period.
It is the second deal Juve have done with a Premier League side on transfer deadline day, as Arthur Melo was loaned to Liverpool for €4.5m with an option to buy for €37.5m.
