Juventus and Italy midfielder Manuel Locatelli has tested positive for COVID, the Bianconeri announced.

The former Sassuolo midfielder played 82 minutes in the Bianconeri’s 3-0 loss against Villarreal in the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16 last night.

The Bianconeri have now announced that the midfielder has tested positive for COVID.

“Juventus Football Club announces that today Manuel Locatelli has tested positive for Covid-19. The player, in agreement with the local health authority, is already self-isolating,” a club statement read.

Locatelli was supposed to get a call-up for Italy’s World Cup play-offs. Roberto Mancini will name his squad list tomorrow and is now unlikely to include the 24-year-old in the team.
