A decision was announced on Thursday, seemingly confirmed yesterday, but it was changed again this morning following a crisis meeting between the Government and football authorities.

The clubs did not want to lose out on the revenue from some very big games, particularly the €5m that Juventus would’ve pocketed from the Derby d’Italia with Inter on Sunday evening.

They also did not want to give anyone an undue advantage, so all these matches have been rescheduled for May 13.

It was the only available date, as Juventus and Inter are both in the Coppa Italia semi-finals and the Round of 16 in Europe.

Inter-Sampdoria was called off last week and that still needs to be rescheduled, which could be a massive problem if Inter reach the Final of the Coppa Italia (now May 20) or the Final of the Europa League.

Incredibly, Udinese-Fiorentina was called off with under six hours to go before kick-off, the Viola team having already travelled to Friuli.

The Wednesday May 13 date means a potentially decisive Scudetto showdown will be played in the final weeks of the campaign.

Week 37 is set for the weekend of May 17, including Inter-Napoli and Cagliari-Juventus.

The final round of the Serie A season is May 24, including Atalanta-Inter, Juventus-Roma and Napoli-Lazio.
