Juventus confirm that Gleison Bremer underwent successful knee surgery in Lyon this morning.

“Gleison Bremer underwent surgery this morning to reconstruct the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. The operation, which was performed at the Hôpital Privé Jean Mermoz in Lyon by Dr Sonnery-Cottet in the presence of Juventus’ medical director Dr Luca Stefanini, was deemed a success,” Juventus said in a statement.

“The player will begin his rehabilitation process in the coming days, with a view to resuming competitive activity.”

The Brazilian centre-back had sustained a cruciate ligament injury in his left knee last week, in the opening minutes of a Champions League game against RB Leipzig.

Juventus haven’t officially confirmed his recovery time, but several sources in Italy claim that the Brazilian will be forced to the sidelines for at least six months.

A former Torino defender, Bremer joined Juventus in 2021 from their city rivals for €41m plus €8m add-ons. The 27-year-old has scored eight goals in 91 appearances with the Old Lady.

He played a key role under Thiago Motta this season, starting in all games before his injury and helping the Serie A giants concede only one goal in seven appearances across all competitions.

Juventus conceded twice against RB Leipzig after Bremer’s injury last week and one more against Cagliari in Serie A on Sunday.
